A Hand That Gives Shall Receive Blessings

Daily, thousands of children go hungry and sleep on the streets. An average citizen has access to food and shelter, but we are not always willing to lend a hand in ensuring that almost each one of the homeless does not go to bed on an empty stomach. Children lose their parents at very young ages, but only a few are fostered. Some of us are lucky to grow having parents because others do not know their parents at all. This is not because it is their will, but sometimes because of inevitable deaths of their parents due to illnesses. While we sit and relax at our homes, a child gets abducted and is at risk of being raped or killed.

If we all offer help to the needy children and take care of the motherless, we could help reduce the number of homeless children and in the long run exterminate the kidnappings of children. Adopting a needy child and becoming a foster guardian is not an easy task, but every child needs to feel the love of a family. If we become watchmen of the country’s children, our future leaders will grow to become responsible adults. Volunteering in foster cares shows the foster children that we as the nation care for them and it is a sign of love for one another.

The book of Proverbs chapter 22 verse 9(KJV) reads thus: “He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor. If one gives their offerings, time, love and care to a needy child, they shall in return receive blessings from the one above. An ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu once said “Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.” Let us be kind to the needy by words, thinking and giving. Motivate the homeless to become successful, encourage them to think beyond the state they find themselves in and offer whatever it is that you have as contribution to their success.

Remember that the help you offer a person might not be realised today, but will always be remembered.
